GREAT Start To 2009!

Hey Trojans, what a GREAT start to the 2009 season! Not only did our Trojans easily manhandle an over-matched San Jose State squad (after an erratic 1st quarter), but the first obstacle for USC to play in the BCS Championship game has been hurdled when Oklahoma went down to BYU after their star QB, and 2008 Heisman Trophy winner, Sam Bradford was knocked out in the 2nd quarter on Saturday night. Now, I am not one to wish ill will on anyone, but the Sooners have gotten the benefit of the doubt over the Trojans too many times in the BCS era. Without Bradford, I believe they will struggle until he gets healthy again. We need Bradford back and in top form for the Red River Shootout and hope the Sooners take down Texas, which will lift another obstacle for the Men of Troy.

Of course, USC must take care of every team before them, so they have their work cut out for them...as always.

We had a GREAT turnout at JP Looney's with SIX new Trojans attending their first Triad Trojan viewing party. A big Fight On to Karl B. & Erin B. who brought their two future Trojans along; Wally P., Pam P. and Claire P. whose son/brother is a freshman at USC, having been accepted as one of only SIX students into the prestigious Thornton School of Music, and Tim K. who made his first game as well. We also had some regulars, Bob B., and Todd J. and his girlfriend Kim, and of course, I was there with my wife Sylvia and my son Ethan.

Tim K., myself and Ethan, Bob B., Erin B. and Karl B. and family.

After talking with the gang at JP Looney's, we felt it would be best if we selected one location to be THE place for Trojans to watch the games, so no one would need to ask. That place will be in Greensboro, though the Winston-Salem gang can select a place and I'll be happy to post it for them. We are considering a new sports bar, "Refs" which is scheduled to open soon, and is centrally located in Greensboro. In the meantime, the GSO gang will be watching the Trojan/Buckeye war at Beef O'Brady's on N. Elm Street, just above Pisgah Church.
