USC/Idaho Game

Hey Triad Trojans:

Just a quick FYI for the USC/Idaho game this Saturday. The game starts at 10:15 PM local time, and will be shown on Fox Sports Net (DirecTv channel 630). Obviously, due to the late kickoff time, there will be no viewing party.

The USC/Nebraska game is Saturday, September 15 at 8:00 PM. There will be a viewing party at Hooters Greensboro on High Point Road near the Four Seasons Mall. The manager is a friend and neighbor of mine and I know he'll take care of us. If you are interested in joining us for the game, RSVP me at GSOTrojan@aol.com so I can give him a head count to secure some tables. There are directions in the sidebar to the right on the blog under "Upcoming Events.".

I have to admit, the USC Alumni Association has some brass ones to come up with THIS shirt for the Nebraska game:I like the GOLD touch...certainly will be able to identify the USC fans in the crowd....especially after the football teams clears out the Husker fans by the fourth quarter (we hope!).

NEW Trojan Found!

Hey Gang:

I was at a friend's birthday party and stumbled across another Trojan alum right here in Greensboro. His name is Dr. Paul S. (Ph.D) and he hopes to join us for some viewing parties this year. So welcome to the Triad Trojan Family paul, we're happy to have you aboard!

I have tentatively planned two of the viewing parties for now, the first being the Nebraska game (The Green Burro, downtown Greensboro) because the bar manager, Mike, is a Nebraska alum and we had the game there last year. The second game planned is the Notre Dame game at Fox & Hound in Winston Salem (since it is an early game and I won't have to drive back to Greensboro at Midnight...okay, I'm a bit selfish, but I have a new son to worry about now).

Anyway guys, the Idaho game is at 10:15 PM and I don't think there are too many die-hards who want to be out on Saturday night until 2 AM so that is why I did not schedule anything.

Football Starts Today!

Well Trojans, today is the day the Trojan football team begins its quest for its third AP National Championship and second BCS Championship under Pete Carroll. Our beloved Trojans are overwhelmingly ranked #1 in preseason magazines and more recently, the Coaches' Poll. The question remains, "can the Men of Troy go wire to wire again with a difficult schedule of Non-conference opponents (Nebraska & Notre Dame), and road trips (Nebraska, Notre Dame, California, Oregon, Arizona State & Washington)?" Time will tell but with this coaching staff, the impressive if not ridiculous amount of talent that roams the sidelines, and the experience of playing as a top dog for four straight years, I like our chances.

Did you know, USC has been preseason #1 three of the past four years? Also, in the past five years, USC has finished in the top 5 EVERY year? No other team comes close. The five straight years of at least 11 wins is also a school record.

Many games will be at 8:00 PM here on the East Coast, so hopefully, we can get together for at least of few of them. I'll keep y'all up to date with where we plan to have the viewing parties for those who are interested. We'll also try to accommodate both the Winston-Salem and the Greensboro faithful.
